Lab 2

http://www.stateparks.com/savannah.html

This is a state park just outside of Savannah, Georgia. It's really just a four mile circular road through this preserved section of land. It's full of all kinds of wonderful animals but, most interestingly, TONS of aligators. I used to drive out here with my friends all the time when I lived in Savannah because it was free and you could literally just wander around by yourself. These are pictures I took about three years ago.

This research facility represents the west coast's section of the National Shark Research Consortium. I've always found marine life and specifically sharks incredibly interesting ever since I lived in Florida as a child.

This is a beautiful sea cave near the isle of Capri in Italy. Light pours in from a small opening and the entire cave is illuminated in a deep saturated blue color. I went there years ago while I was in Italy and it's absolutely gorgeous.

The lynx is a giant predatory cat that is not only beautiful and incredibly dangerous, but also legal to own as a pet in some parts of the united states. I want one.

MAPPING

This is an Isarithmic map of the best times of year to see the changing colors of foliage across the United States. It seems mostly to follow suit with temperature norms. I.e. the colder the area the earlier you would want to go see the foliage. Its funny how florida isn't even represented by a color because there are almost no noticeable season changes there.
This is a Chloropleth map of all the documented shark attacks in Florida from 1882 to 2008. It outlines which areas (by county) are most dangerous. Pinellas County, where I lived for 9 years, is the only county on the Gulf of Mexico side in the 9-29 range.

This is a map of my typical bike ride from my apartment to work and back home on a typical day when I lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There are markers for Brew-haha, my favorite coffee shop where I would stop on my way, and Raising Canes Chicken, Louisiana's version of Zaxby's where I would sometimes stop on my way home. The whole bike ride is right around 6 or 7 miles.
